In general I'd say 460-470bhp is about where the turbo calls it quits.

I'll be happy with around 400bhp

I believe someone in holland has done around 500bhp on the 3071, alledgedly.

Thats interesting i am sure the norm is 430 plus for the 3071 with a decent tune

My car made 395whp on one dyno and 470whp on another. I changed nothing. Boost was actually slightly lower at the second dyno.
Dyno numbers on their own with no relative/comparative data are fairly meaningless IMO...

Honda has a 5 cylinder? Try again.Actually, it's probably going to be a honda guy haha.

Honda has a 5 cylinder? Try again.
Yes. At least one car engine and one motorcycle engine
Probably not in the hp range that we're talking about though.

Acura (Honda) TL 2.5 5 cylinder
Find me proof someone has turbocharged a "Honda" 5 cylinder. The OP was clearly referring to either SPECIFICALLY a volvo engine, or perhaps even an audi engine. You knew what he was asking. No need to be a dick about it because you're a Honda fanboy on a Volvo forum.

And yes, honda did make a 5 cyl, and since hondas are so popular, I'm sure someone has built one

The GTX series is looking better and better. Damnit, I thought I finally picked my turbo and then I start reading up on the GTX and I can picture another $500 falling out of my pocket... GTX3582R would be so much awesome I can't even comprehend.

I'm finding the same thing. Except I'm leaning towards the GTX3071R, for the earlier boost threshold. I'd consider the GTX3076R, except doesn't really make sense to me.. The old "GT3082R" had the GT30 60mm turbine wheel and 82mm compressor wheel from the GT3582R, but people complained that it was a mismatch, the compressor was too big for the turbine wheel.Unless you strap it to a NA manufacturer certified engine dyno comparing numbers is pretty moot.

Now we have the GTX3076R, which flows almost as much as the old GT3582R, paired up with the same GT30 turbine wheel, it seems like it's destined to end up in a similar situation, unless the difference in size increases the turbine wheel speed enough to prevent it from being the limitation in the setup.

That is true, but I think I've given up on an autocross/streetable car and just going for a highway monster. The GT35R still has pretty reasonable spool. I'm just waiting on a clear price for a GTX35R. But how can you go wrong with a BB GT35R for $1200 with a 2 year warranty? It's 533Nm, it just looks like a 6 because of the video quality.

I'm slowly moving to the same line of thinking as you, I don't race my car, and I probably won't until my income increases substantially
But for the highway, I like being able to floor it at 3k and have the turbo produce a reasonable amount of boost. I fear that the GT35's turbine just won't allow that...

Kinda impossible to answer. Dynos vary SO much. You'd need half a dozen highly boosted examples to get any idea.
