Okay, so one of the guys at work has an '06 Subaru Outback XT that is stock. It supposedly puts out 250 hp. What are the chances of my '98 V70 AWD with 16t, R ECU, whites, and a basic stage 0 have against it? I'm planning on installing a full 3" exhaust one of these days but it might not be on by the time we go at it. He is always making fun of my car so I thought it might be an interesting test. Would it be better from a roll, or a complete stop? Thanks!

you might have a chance from a roll, try it out. the worst that could happen is that you guys are close and will be like a volvo kept up with me

You should be able to handle him, from a dig or a roll.

Are you running a manual boost controller? Upping the boost and having it come on earlier would help.

Good luck and let us know.

Subaru AWD > Volvo AWD, but the power and weight match up pretty similarly between the two cars. It'll be close.

I like this idea, but it's your car. Maybe also show up with the rear drive shaft disconnected :) Either way, if your car is running well I think you'll be neck and neck.

Ask your buddy at work how he likes driving around in a lesbian's car. Ask him to show you his rainbow sticker.

Haha, thanks for the comments guys. I've been getting held up because the 16t turbo I said I had is probably no good (needs a major rebuild). So now I'm waiting for another 16t to arrive. Will update when that's in! :D

He'll kill you up to 100km/h, after that it will be the opposite.

He just has the right gearing, after 100 they fall on their face. Just like the WRX, not so much the STi's. If anything go from a roll, it's your best bet. If he's like a lot of other subie drivers he'll want to go from a dig, get up to 100km/h and then back off while he's still ahead and say he killed you.

I think it depends if it's the 5 speed or the auto.

I doesn't matter too much actually. The 5th gear in the manual is so tall that you can just ignore it in terms of acceleration, it doesn't even reach top speed even close to the top of 4th even. The ratios on the manual start to widen past 3rd, doesn't do much for highway accel especially since the XT's have teeny turbos and the powerband falls off after 5K. Much like out LPT's but he's upgraded to a 16T so that should help in terms of top-end.

XT's are great fun for zipping around town, but once I got it on the highway I was really less than impressed.

im not sure you understand how racing works here. We decide who wins, not the cars in some sort of mechanical challenge.

All these race threads should be called "what are my chances" I have never seen so many guys talk about what might happen.
