Had some prototypes made. Similar design to the old units QBM offered, few minor changes to make them more precise/easier to use.

Is there still interest in these? I basically had some made for our service shop and one to throw in my tool box.

Should we go into production?

These units are simply steel, would probably have them black oxide coated and then laser etched.
If we go into production I planned on doing a basics "cam timing 101" video, worth the time you think?
Gimme some feedback!

They look very happpy.

I know demand for them comes up every now and then, it would be great to have another source for adjustment.

Have you considered making one for the VVT cams too?

I would say do a run of them if anything. I got in on that small group buy for cam timing tools a while ago, and I think only 7 people participated. After that, I never really see anyone asking where to buy one or anything. But those ones look good.

I'd be glad to field test one for ya to verify that they are easier to use and more precise, since I have and use the QBM version currently...

I would think if the price was right you would sell lots of them...if it was not at the right price you would still sell some since they are valuable tools for the dedicated tuner.

The problem with those, which we knew up front, was that they were not marked in 1-degree increments on the scale. It was something odd like 0-2-4-5-7, I think that scared some folks off. Otherwise it was ok, and I used mine a lot but I sold it once I obtained a QBM.

These are marked in 1 degree incements on the cam. Since the cam spins at half speed to the crank that means each division is 2 degrees of crank rotation. This doesn't really matter as all you need to know if how much more/less you want from where you started.

as for feild tester, pm me your address commisar and I send you one. These are rough not finished units though so I'll probably paint one quickly for you.

I'm hoping to keep the price point low, like a $19.95 scenario give or take.
Support it with a video so it isn't so intimidating to folks.

As for CVVT, cant be done. the ecu monitors the variance and can adapt for changes up to ~5 degrees. So you can change the base timing of teh cvvt head but ecu will learn around and comensate for it. Change it more than that and you get check engine light.

Ah, wow. I didn't know it was using the CPS as a feedback loop on the CVVT systems. What about the intake side that doesn't have a sensor on it?

I'd definitely buy one if the price is right, heck I'd even buy the prototype if you're willing to sell it.

I think if you had a cam timing 101 video available with it you'd get a lot more people who would be interested than in the past.
Do it!

mine is a 97NA so there is no VVT, just looking for a way to precisely adjust timing after a cylinder head job and experiment a little with lowering the power band. Would be glad to field test or purchase one outright. Even with photos there are too many conflicting how to's on the web that I just don't trust. I think if people realized the need for more accuracy when doing this procedure they would appreciate a device like this? Even if you don't have a video do you have a good source for theory and advantages/disadvantage?

PM sent, I think you would sell a heap in the neighborhood of that price point...

A video as suggested, would be cool too...It always makes people feel at ease about messing with something like that if they see someone else actually doing it...Removes some of the mystique though :P

i would be in for one. i bought one from the group buy and it's nice but i would like a bit more precision. as to the VVT engines, what about a cam sprocket to use that head on the older, non-VVT, blocks?

Hey Lucky, I'll take 2. I've been looking for a Quickbrick version for a while now and haven't had any success in talking anyone out of theirs.

Should be more accurate than my paper cutout....... (sad but true)
