So I've been itching to do an LED swap recently. I have a weird colored car (412; verdigris/tropic green metallic). Needless to day, I think that white, green, red, or maybe amber would look kind of cool. What do you guys think? Feel free to share advice/opinions. It would be most appreciated.

Thanks

I picked white.

I think you're right about that working well with your color combination.

I think the hardest part would be swtiching to another color besides green. Your gauges will light up any color you want but you have lots & lots of buttons that still have a green "filter" in the switch itself. The bulbs themselves in the switches are simply white bulbs that get their color by the green tinted thingy. White would be okay red might be to much difference & green is okay depending how bright they come through. You CAN get these replaced I have heard but Im sure its not the easiest to do or even find.

Personally if I could change every color in the car it would go to red. I love the audi dim red interior light scheme and it kinda helps that my car is red... how much of a pain in the ass would it be? probably have to REALLY WANT it in order to make it worth it

With white LEDs the buttons and switches appear as slightly blue. The filters are made to make incandescent light appear green, where as LED light is actually pure white light. The LEDs are also brighter and shine through the filters effectively.

I'm not sure about 70 interiors, but the ECC on my 850 has the biggest color difference, the siwtches all match each other and are only slightly off from the gauges. The headunit buttons do not have filters on them, so they'll be whatever color you put behind them; they use white incandescent lights with green condom filters, so the filter is on the bulb itself.

Here are some shots of my 850 with all white LEDs

As you can see, the radio is the only thing that's actually true white, but I like it.

Amber or orange. I did orange, but it's more difficult to find drop-ins so you have to do more custom work. Amber LEDs are very easy to find and are the most common. Orange is the same as in BMWs, amber is found in Infiniti's.

after months of searching and hunting for the right drop in replacements, i found them. albeit a little on the expensive side, but you gotta pay to play. check out the link in my sig. it's a list for most if not all drop in replacement LED's for x70's. i made all of mine red. that they are very bright at night.

i've seen your setup before, it looks really awesome. makes me want to switch over to orange

I voted red. Mine looks great! only need a couple more bulbs to finish it off for the HVAC, radio, the dimmer and info switch and shifter. It looks awesome at night and there is no blue tint to them, the red overpowers the filter...

This picture was done before I finished off the gauge cluster info screen and the tacho, I was doing only the ones I could reach from under the dash without removing the dash...

White looks really nice, but at the same time, so does red. I can imagine what amber would looks like, too. This is a tough decision haha.
