1:Finish grad school
2: get married
3:get your garage.

You won't keep it clean.
you will still spend the night in it because of number 2.

Pfft. Skip step 2 and WHAM! Garage. Old pic, I have since added a shelf and cleaned up a bit.

LOL at the comments. And yes Gabe, keep that sucker clean. I've vacuumed ours here before, especially when I know I'll need to do something that cannot be exposed to dust, etc...

Try all you want to keep it clean and organized though, it'll never be quite right. The only clean, non-pro garage that I know of belongs to a friend who has a dedicated garage for his cars, with a lift, etc... His kids aren't allowed in it.

And it has a couch, juuuuuuust in case an argument gets too heated. :P

I can guarantee that when I have my own garage, it will be cleeeeaaannnn all the time. I even sweep out my garage stall on a regular basis. During jobs I always stop part way through, put everything away and clean up because I hate when everything gets messy, and just do a tool count.

When I graduate, and I'm at the point of owning my own property, I intend to have a 1.5 garage/shed for my own tools/stuff. My GF said that if we stay together I can have my own garage as long as there's a spot in the garage for her car.

That's what I have in my car. A bag. And is essentially what lead me to getting the upper chest and new tools for the car. I HATE that bag so much. Can't find anything in it and I was getting frustrated beyond belief working on my car out of that bag.

Just a heads up, that upper chest is only $83 online at Sears right now on sale. It's a quiet glide, not ball bearing, so the drawers feel a little flimsy when they're empty, but get a few tools in them and they're solid.

Yeah I have a tool bag and I keep it organized with hd zip lock bags filled with the screw drivers/torx/alen/etc. I just moved all of my volvo related crap into a 25x60ft garage space though with two friends so now I can actually get a box and keep it well stocked and clean. It sure is nice to work indoors and be able to clean up and leave the job and pick it up the next day where I left off.

A tool chest would be nice. I have everything in portable tool boxes. They are all organized, but because of that, I have like 6 different tool boxes I have to keep track of and haul around.

A garage would be even nicer. I have a covered carport that I use for quick jobs, can't clog it up for too long, we have guests coming all the time.

With my current project, I had to be out of the way and sight. So i set up in the back of the property under the bridge. :D It is nice, due to the fact I have my work shop right there, so I have all my vises and workbenches not far away.

This is my new big one. Its not a bad deal and work great. Comes with aluminum and plastic grip plates too, so you don't damage things.

So much want. I almost got a 5'x10' storage unit to store all of my car parts, but then decided to get rid of everything instead. Still in the process of thinning it out.

Each house my wife and I have bought, it was agreed that the garage was my domain and that she had 0 say in any garage matters what so ever. The consequence of such an agreement was that she got the rest of the house.
