Both unfortunately. Not saying he left me sitting there but it was obvious I was the slower car.

There is not much to offer in details. I was going to work at 4:30 in the morning, it was dark, I didnt know who the guy was or what mods he had. I had exhaust thats all I know. We were turning left at a light into three lanes, there were cars in both the outer lanes, I was in the middle he was to my left. I heard him jump on it so I did too but he got such a lead that I was no longer beside him. He pulled into my lane to squeeze through the other two cars. At that point I was on his butt but i was full throttle and was just at that point where I felt I had stopped the pull when he let off. It was a quick sprint.
The next light we had a car between us, I knew there was no way to take him off the line and so it was, Green light and he launched probably two car lengths. I spun. Then I passed him, not because I was faster it was because he let off. I have to take this one as a loss. Hopefully I will get another chance some morning.

So do I unfortunatly. As seen by my 1/4 trap time at 99. The Automatic seems to start letting go around there. Others run 13's but pass at over 104+. I think my strength is 25 to 75.

If the gearing in a turbo is the same as my N/A, then yeah, that 25-75 range puts your right in 2nd gear pretty much the whole time, but 3rd is too tall to keep pulling

You shouldn't feel so bad, those are tough cars to beat. Plus it sounds like the conditions weren't ideal either with the other cars making interference. Just lucky nothing tragic happened with someone making a sudden lane change. Hopefully the chance presents itself again under better conditions. You could always swap in a manual tranny! :D :D

In maine one afternoon i was trailing a new WRX with an exhaust, we were doing about 80 on some highway and he pulled on me, I was ashamed. You never kno with those cars, there mods. 3/4 of the Sti's and or Wrx's atleast have an exhaust on them. Who know's what elce. Subaru's make major gains with bolt on's and a tune

That's crazy. I took an 07/08 STi that was around here. He tried pulling on me, but just couldn't do it.

IIRC, he has a fresh motor, exhaust, intake, possible tune?

Time to ditch the auto and switch to a solid 5 speed. If performance is that important to you, might as well invest in the switch. You'll never regret it and never look back!

Just swap it to a 5spd so the wife can play with the stick all the time.

is it really that surprising that a tuned newish STI can beat up on a tuned 13+ year old volvo? i absolutely love my 850R but i realize cars like those are on a different level

well its very exciting that a 13+yr old tuned volvo can beat a new STI and some tuned ones (remember that whole sleeper aspect of our cars :)...its my favorite part) and i think its more of that when it comes to sti they have a much wider range of performance then us, many are running stock or close to it and a nicely modded volvo can take it....but theres also a lot more 500+ stis out there that will walk almost any of us so it depends what you come across, and when you have come across a lot of ones you can beat.....then one you cant its a little sad
