If you end up off-road pretty much anywhere, you'll either be swimming or kissing trees. I'd be more concerned about brakes than with tires. I run up to the ragged edge on brakes to where the 2 rod width of the crossroad I'm stopping for is my run-off area. $1000 worth of custom pads lets one do such things.

Wisturbo is the only one on here that's ridden with me at anything close to max braking. I think he'll vouch for my brakes.
