I'm thinking we should schedule a Summer or mid Spring Volvos at Ikea like is done in other regions. As I've been perusing the sites (TB, SS, VS) I've noticed we have almost as large of a core group in the MWC as exists in the NEC. It's just a matter of pulling everyone together and I think more formal events like a Volvos at Ikea will make that happen. Maybe we shoot for June or July so that this fills in the post Carlisle schedule as the next big meet?

There are two IKEAs in the Chicago area, one in Schaumburg (which I would prefer since it's literally 10 minutes down the road from me) or one in Bolingbrook which might be more centrally located if folks from Ohio and Michigan could be encouraged to make the trek. It seems like the Bolingbrook might be the best choice to pull everyone from the surrounding States together (Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, possibly Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota).

Neither one of the IKEAs has covered parking but both have massive outdoor parking lots. I'm happy to start coordinating the effort in making arrangements with an Ikea and reaching out to local Volvo people (like Swedish Import Specialists, Lisle Volvo, the local VCNA rep (Yannis or GrecianVolvo over on SS) if we can agree on a timing in the next several months that makes sense.

It seems that May is taken by Carlisle but June or April might be ideal times. If we want decent weather then June is probably preferable to April. Given that it will take time to arrange this and actually make it happen (get permission, possibly round up sponsors, etc) I'm thinking June is the best target month. By July people are starting to bail for vacation and it starts getting pretty hot to hang out on an asphalt parking lot.

I would vote June, but the last weekend in June is Midwest Madness. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd weekend in June? April/May is out for me with Carlisle and it being the end of the year, I will be WAY too busy with school. Or July would be good too. Either way. I'd be down.

Hmmm, had not thought about Midwest Madness - or at least forgot about the timing. Maybe we should go for July then? Make it a mid July kind of event?

Would work for me. I would try to shoot for early July, since later in July I feel like people would start taking off, and with it being this early, I would just go for a date so people could request off and we could get a date set with IKEA.
