Yeah, whatever, I read right through your little "in" comment and saw the fine print, trying to purposely get me to derail the thread.

I'm down for either location. Schaumburg might be a bit better for me but either way I'd be in.

If it seems like it would only be a IL/WI meet i would say Schaumburg, but if the Ohio crew did roll up maybe switch it to Bolingbrook...although whats another 25 miles when your coming from Dayton...

Here's the thing, if I'm going to either of the Ikeas to ask them if we can host a Volvo car day on their parking lot I need to be able to say we'll have X number of cars and the bigger X is the more likely they are to go along with it. Well, within reason of course - if we completely overran the parking lot they wouldn't be happy but we all know there's no chance of that happening.

So my goal is to be able to say we'll have 25 cars. It's a stretch but I think if everyone in the area showed up we could probably pull that off. My goal is to turn it into a must attend event for the Midwest much like XXX is in Washington or the Ikea event in New England or the Volvo Saab meet in Boston. We've been successful over the last 12 months of building consistency of meets and a core group of participants. You need a critical mass to start attracting a bigger participation and I think we've neared that tipping point. I look at the Roll Call for Carlisle and count 11 cars but I know there are at least a dozen others in the Chicago / Wisconisn / Indiana corridor. And if we can pull more people from a little farther away on all points of the compass then we can easily hit 30 or more.

Participation attracts the local dealers and attracts broader Volvo enthusiasts of all stripes to attend. I can think of at least a half dozen guys I talked to at the VCOA meet who owned older models who could be persuaded to show up.

So that's what I'm driving for. We'll see if a post July 4th (probably second week of July) makes sense. Maybe I'm deluding myself but I'd like to think there's a spot for a meet like this to fit into our calendar.

Guess I'll reach out to both stores and see what they think and then we can debate which one we want to go to depending on whether both, one or none of them buy into it.

I like your enthusiam, and if you are hoping for 25 cars, we definitely need to hit up the MI, MN, OH and WI guys to get over here. I don't think we have those numbers with just our die hard MWC. In order to encourage those MI, MN and OH guys to come we should probably think of something to do in the evening or Sunday to make it worth their drive. Driving 4+ hours just to sit at Ikea for a few hours isn't really cost<benefit. We also need for the MWC flag to be done, that should help with our recognition. Any thoughts of trying to get some Saabs involved also? I can try and get Rich and his daughter to show up with their Volvos just to add a few more.

I'd be more willing for the Schaumburg Ikea. I would probably still attend the Bolingbrook one though. I still do plan on going to Carlisle and I got the days off, I just haven't got the tickets yet. So I haven't put in a confirmation in the Carlisle thread.

It's Gabe's fault - he was very selective in who he informed we were making stickars.

We made them in light of the MWC winter meet. Just ask, plus Adam wanted it to be kept on the DL...

We talked about it in the MWC thread for quite some time before going forward with it.

It was also at the request of Greg and Adam that if the sticker was going to use the Volvospeed name, that there was to be no public discussion of it.

I have a few extras, I made some because I know people were going to want some after the initial buy.
