I replaced the front lines with SS, but I'm having trouble with the rears. When I try to break them loose, the whole line twists. Should I just put penetrating oil on them and let it work for a few days? I know some of you have SS lines, just looking for some pointers.

Thanks!!!

Try some PB Blaster...great stuff. Spray it, wait 30 minutes, try again.

Also, just to make sure, are you using brake line (flare) wrenchs?

You may just need the "brake lines wrench". It is a set of wrenches that is thicker, Sears has them, just got a set of 5 for like 35-36 bucks. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I was wondering about the PB Blaster stuff.

One other question, how resilient are the lines that run from the Master Cylinder back to the Brake Hose? It twisted a couple of times, I twisted it back but want to make sure that I haven't stressed it to the point of weakness. If I do replace it, are there any other procedures I need to account for since I'd be messing with the Master Cylinder?

Thanks again.

How tough are they...put it this way...I was able to remove and reuse my brake lines when I replaced my Master Cylinder on my 65 mustang...all original lines and fittings.

If you ever see an orange can of Kano Kroil or Silikroil, pick it up and keep it! That stuff rules! Hard to find though, much better than PB Blaster, WD40 etc..

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I was using the search tool and found this. Anyway, my dad bought the IPD ss brake lines and our mechanic installed the front lines just fine. But he said the rear lines were too short. I think they are about 9 in. or something. The car is a 95' 854 turbo. Have any of you had any problems installing these rear lines or thought that they were too short?

No thanks. I like the ground just fine. Speed is awesome, as long as I'm firmly planted on terra firma.

My 2cents you need heat. Heat up the fittings and cool with water, this will help you get them apart. Not to much heat at the line/fitting, heat the block the fitting goes into, to much heat and you can blow the rubber line or melt the metal line.

I don't know what you mean by trouble? Just the design of the car made the rear ones a real pain to remove. Then I stripped out one of the front ones and had to replace the hard line to the master cylinder. I used wd40 and line wrenches, but it still stripped.

By trouble, I was referring as to wether or not they seemed to short or not. Our mechanic thought that the rear lines were too short, but I have never heard of anyone else having this problem.
