Did it require a yeast starter? What kind of yeast did you use?

Bottling the brew this weekend. Still smells like beer. Might make another since the folks will be out visiting.

no starter... but we're stocked up on DME now so next time we know. It was dry (and our first time using dry)... safbrew t-58.

we tried the bottles above this past weekend -- didn't taste ready. but it wasn't supposed to be ready until this weekend, so we'll see.

also trying partial mash on the next batch.

0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt
1.00 oz Mt. Hood [6.00 %] (60 min) Hops 21.0 IBU
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (5 min) Hops 3.8 IBU
1 Vial of European Ale Yeast (White Labs WLP011)

my roommate and I have been so lazy... unspeakably so... and both out of town i guess...

we let the tripel and the Dead Ringer IPA both ferment for 2+ weeks longer than expected... they smell so alcholic... dangerously so. I wonder if they're OK.

few things came in today...

12 22oz bottles
24 12oz bottles
50 red caps
50 blue caps
100 garbage caps (green and orange -- but no seals so: garbage)
bottle corker/capper
bottle tree

waiting on 24 22oz Belgian bottles, corks, and cork cages

.... bottled a speckled heffer ("multigrained Midwestern take on the American cream ale")

.... this week I was going to bottle the IPA and I just realized I forgot to put the dry hops in :(

.... next week bottling: IPA + Tripel

need to purchase a corny keg and see what I'm working with (trunk-wise)... that's step one, and if it fits, I'm going to bring a bunch  and will probably take requests :D

no pics here... since we've really only been doing extract kits, it's just a big pot and a bunch of carboys stuffed in a corner when not being used

Well my amber went bad...some kind of white film formed on the top of the batch while it was in the secondary fermenter. :(

Also dissapointing, it seems like 1 out of every 4 bottles from my Belgian Spice batch has been completely flat...me thinks I need to replace some cap seals next time around.

Yeah, using this type. Owned commented earlier in the thread that the caps can wear out overtime and usage.

I buy all my stuff from Midwest. Great customer service and their prices are super reasonable. Going to be brewing a chocolate stout next!

We had a finish beer vessel implosion during my not so home-brewing brewing. Pretty impressive to see something that probably weighs several tons end up looking like a crushed beer can.
Not 100% sure of the cause, since all vessels have pressure and vacuum valves..

Pretty good video that will help you out with this next time.

I had to register my basement as an NFA item.

thanks for the vid... definitely helpful, as we've kinda just been going through the motions and not really learning anything

tried the IPA -- it's not bad.... not ready, but not bad. better off after two weeks in bottles than the last, which was ultimately fucking delicious.
