I dont think anyone has the generator for this. You would need to contact a dealer. Just tell them you replaced your battery and it says code. If they dont give it to you over the phone call another dealer.

This.

What interests me is I wonder how the codes are generated in the first place. It'd be interesting to see if there's any specific pattern between the serial numbers and matching unlock codes, or if they're just random 4 digit numbers. There has to be repeat codes anyhow, because 4 digits only give you 10K combos, and there are quite a lot more than 10K Volvo HU's floating around out there.

Not likely straightforward. Probably some random math algorythm.

0000 through 9999 would give you 10k possible 4 digit codes. I doubt Volvo used "0000" as a code but the math still holds true. Link for those that require additional explanation, My link.

To the OP: You will have to contact a dealer. You are only allowed three attempts before it is "OFF." Then you must wait two hours, with power to the unit, before you can attempt again.

Forgot to add, Volvo only used 1-6 so yes 1296 would be correct. Posted Image

I had the same problem with my car, just pull the radio to see if the code is there like it was on mine.

most dealers will give you the code free of charge, as said above. This a sticky somewhere or no? b/c it seems a very common question.

Mine was written inside the front cover of the maintainance record book. And on a card that said radio security code inside the sleeve that holds all the literature.
