So I put in a pair of really nice pioneer 6x9 in place of the rear deck speakers. There was no cutting required. Just popped the old speakers out of the box and placed the new ones in the bottom of the boxes. Sound really great too, big improvement. Nothing like a free upgrade!

Don't like how you can see into the housing, kinda looks cheap.

If you have the ability you can make a box like the oe to fit your new speaker.

Definitely looks cheap, but they're Pioneer speakers. Pioneer doesn't make a "really nice" speaker. Hacking things apart (like I did) doesn't look any better, and the slickest thing to do is probably install speakers with adapters.

Or cut a piece of plywood to cover the opening and cut the oval out and wrap with audio box carpet.
