Thanks for the suggestion and feedback. Once the time is right I'm probably going to choose a Viper or CompuStar system that's within the ~$250 price range.

What about the Avital 3300? Got decent reviews and is made by Viper... Or is that too basic of a setup for what you're looking for?

Wow, thanks for that suggestion. I didn't even read about that one, it seems like it would fit the bill nicely. It's well below the amount I'd like to spend as well.

I don't need anything super special, I mean....it's a Volvo that's probably worth $3000 if that.

i will leave your thread alone. since you are thinking about getting crap from ebay, then installing it yourself and justifying its ok because its BNIB.

alarm/security is only as good as its installation PERIOD.

Best system in the world, installed half assed. it is what it is.

Why since I'm installing it will it be installed half assed? I've installed twenty million things on my car and they all work and appear perfectly? Damn bro. My wife's system works perfectly, I installed that. I will be installing my own stereo system soon and that will work perfectly as well. I'm no newbie to electronics, there are always things to learn and I respect that. I've also installed a handful of my own stereos in previous cars.

I'm not concerned with purchasing a setup off ebay.

I've never had one ounce of trouble dealing with reputable sellers that are offering BNIB products. Cheap doesn't always mean it's crap.

take the chip off your shoulder and reread my comment. it is a statement from a PRO EXPERT, that sees alot of crap. its a valid statement. You are not getting personally attacked. You need to pick and choose your battles. Some things are best left to people that do it all day everyday.

It does not matter what kind of car you got, you asked for a system, i gave you suggestions. You have a ferrari you have insurance and you dont care about security. I had a 1995 NA 850 and it was a $500 with $750 of repairs making it a $1250 with $2000 of gear in it(that was cost). Look at Owned car with a $10k retail system on another $2500 KBB book value car. its not what someone says your car is worth, its what your car is worth to you.

You want it, you get it. You dont want to spend the money on it then dont.

Haha, yeah. Thanks man. I'm going to read up on it at some point this week here. I was planning on it tonight but I'm ready for a good night's sleep. I was so exhausted after work I fell asleep as soon as I sat down at my father's right after leaving work.

I'll get in touch with ya after I do some reading. It sounds like a nice system though, aside from a few minor things my wife's has been pretty reliable. We got raped having Tweeter install that when they were around.
