Hello. I'm wanting to work on my 1995 960 myself. But I have never worked on my own car before. Which DIY manual should I buy? Which one is the best? And where can I buy it?

The Volvo 'Green' manuals are best. They can be found on ebay or directly from Volvo. They are expensive so If you only buy the 'sections' that you need, it's not so bad and over time you wind up with a good library. Te Chilton book (8428)72302 is very general and not all that much help on the details. A cheaper alternative to the green manuals that is also pretty good is an ALLDATA subscription.

I have both but I can't compare as I've never looked at the chiltons... The Bently bible is very thorough (and as has been said, worth its weight in gold).

Note that Robert Bentley doesn't produce a manual that covers the 960. The 240 manual that has been linked to above is a great manual and a must have for any 240 owner; and while it is also very useful for anyone with a 740 or 940 equipped with Bosch LH2.4 fuel injection, where outside of some minor changes the fuel systems are the same, 960 owners may find it basically useless.

are your best bet. Though just browsing through the 960
books, many are now discontinued. I do recommend the
factory wiring diagram, TP3909202, well worth the price.
Otherwise you might be able to find a copy of a VADIS DVD (torrent) that would contain much of the same info as the green books. You might also ask around on turbo bricks http://forums.turbob...s.com/index.php as someone there may be able to help you with pdf versions of some related green books.

Apparently I can't read. When 960 looks like (or is processed as) 240, there is obviously a problem

a used Haynes 850 manual for its beginning section that deals with repairs in general and its good section on preventive maintenance. This book may have some stuff of use.
Try Barnes & Noble for used books.
There are also some relatively inexpensive books and discs on ebay that might be worth a shot.
In most cases, I look at at least two books for advice on repairs.
