Some of the voices put an idea in my head, so I tried something different.  AMG C36.

I wish!  From what I understand, the only W202 chassis to get a manual (Diesel) only got a 4-spd.  Sloppy box is fine, I guess.

Your wish has been granted. Back in 1994 actually. The Carlsson C36 RS has a manual gearbox and it's every bit as good as you imagine when you ignore the six figure price tag.

Don't know who told you that MB only had 4-speeds for the W202, but they are wrong. They sold the C280 with a 5-speed manual which just happens to share the M104 engine with the C36.

When you get to the stage of purchasing a gearbox take care that you are getting the version you want. There are different part numbers depending on what type of flywheel - single or dual mass - was used. And obviously there are gearing differences depending on which variant they designed it for.

It appears that Carlsson named their car C37 RS not C36 RS when it went into production. Although I've found some road tests from the mid '90s that called it the C36 RS...

Sweet! Let me know how you like it. Did you get it new?

I got mine used from one of our local photography chains. Being able to go super wide is fun.
