I mounted them on 8” wide wheels. They have been fantastic, a noticeable improvement in every way over the Ventus V12s I ran last summer.

The Super Sport has been discontinued and the replacement is the Pilot Sport 4S (PS4S) but the Pilot Sport 4 is a totally different tire.  The PS4S is a more performance oriented tire than the Pilot Sport 4.  However, we don’t get the Pilot Sport 4 in North America so I can’t offer any comparative feedback.

ps4s is available only 18" and larger, so to stay 17" option is this "old" pss or conti sc5 or eagle asim 3 or something from dunlop. seems like pss is the only true racing construction tyre

meanwhile the pricetag of pss is higher than ps4 or ps4s in E europe

ZHP? Nice! The remaining issues are pretty easy things to do, at least.

Any reason you didn't check out the Potenza RE-71R? Both offer amazing performance and many times the Potenzas are cheaper on Tire Rack

They're a fantastic tire because of how they require little heating-up they need to be sticky but because of that, they don't last very long. They also don't hold up to heat very well, so after a few laps of hard driving, they'll disintegrate. People still use them because of how good they are but it's not the most practical for doing multiple things.

Flow Formed and 16.6lbs each :)

to be fair my buddy got 25k miles out of his on his Integra Type-R, did great on the Tail of the Dragon too! I love the Super Sports but they're over $100 more for the set over the Potenzas

Because the 71Rs are so sticky, they aren’t a good DD tire compared to the PSS (200 vs. 320 TW). I would wear them out simply commuting and not get the life I wanted. Plus, I got the PSS for a song when Tire Rack had em on closeout. I was gonna go with a performance all-season for longer life but the price of the PSS was too good to pass up. I spend 95% of my time in the car just commuting so buying ZOMG sticky tires is a waste.

Your buddy got 25k out of the 71R because they were on an Integra that weighs significantly less than my wagon. I wouldnt have a chance at 25k out of 200 TW tire. A lighter car = longer life on consumables. Same idea as to why my uncle doesn’t race his Z06 as much and instead bought a Miata Cup Racer. He has to spend less on tires and brakes and can spend more on track days.
