Wow, haven't seen those boxes for film in a while!

Semi related: keeping my fingers crossed for a Nikon D3000 next week.

You should be saying, WOW that's such a tiny 35mm camera and a very nice one too. ;) The D3000 is a nice camera.

Thanks and I know what you mean, I've got about 20 cameras that I can't seem to part with.

I know very little about older cameras. I received this one after a grandfather passed away in the '90's and I still feel like I could use it better.

D3000 is a great camera for the money, i love mine, but it does take some getting used to because it is almost in an awkward place btwn a very simple point and shoot esque camera and a much more complex higher end one because it can kinda function in either direction and you gotta play with it to get it how you want it it mess around with it to really get the most out of it.

Yeah I think I'll need a few weeks to understand the camera properly. At least I'll be able to delete the pics I mess up, unlike my Fuji where trial and error can get costly.

Advice: week 1 shoot in all the modes, play with the camera as much as possible. Week 2 and the following months, shoot in manual mode only. You'll become familiar with how the camera responds to light and you'll familiarize yourself w/ the ins and outs of the camera. Once you're familiar with that, shoot in whatever mode you want. But, you'll only obtain that level of familiarity by shooting manual..

OK, I'll try that. Thanks. I'm so glad to finally move away from the old camera.
