I have a 96 960. On my way home today in 100 degree weather the car would shut down and restart immediately. Almost like a reboot. I checked the diagnostic codes and got an A-114 code. All other codes normal. Any driveway fixes suggestions? Also any cost of repair guesses? Any info would be appreciated.
It's hard to believe it's a tranny problem.
Thanks
Jim

I thought your '96 MY was OBDII compliant.
OBD I : A1 -114 is a gear selector code
OBD II : 114 is an air intake temp sensor code.

What is the "A" part of the code? Is that diagnostic socket A? Also what method are you using to retrieve the code? There is no 1-1-4 code from pin two of socket A. Pin 1 is for the transmission and 1-1-4 is as reported above, or alternately as "Program selector open-circuit or short-circuit to ground".
Otherwise I'd start by pulling the cover off the center of the engine and have a close look at the ignition coil wiring harness, failures here are common.
