Should I grease that thing when I put it all back?

I replaced/regreased the plastic ball seat when I had it out. I would definitely at least take it apart, clean, and regrease it all while you can.

Dropped the subframe, ready to get out that automatic!

Posted Image

My manual was really dirty, cleaned it up some with simplegreen..Not sure if its safe to clean at a carwash or not..

Posted Image

Had to stop here because I don't have a inside torx for the pressure plate bolts..

got the foot pedals out..my advise to others is to disconnect the steering linkage near the floorboard..remove the lock pin and bolt..secure steering wheel so that it does not move..remove the lock washer that is holding the brake pedal on..I broke one removing it but you can get a replacement from a place like Napa i'm guessing..if u unscrew the vacuum module thingy from the gas pedal that gives you more room too. its secured to the heater core box by one torx screw. The clutch and pressure plate from the donor car are visible here too.

got the flywheel resurfaced, cost me $51 bucks at Napa...They charged $11 extra to remove the pins visible in the pic...It was more than I expected but its necessary I believe.I let the car sit overnight and no more drip drip from rear main seal...nice!

Posted Image

installed an OEM rear main seal seal from Volvo dealer...it appears the design quality has improved since 1997 although i did not post a comparison pick..just take my word for it.

Installed the clutch master cylinder..my advise is to loosen the bolts to the brake booster and place a crow bar between the brake booster and fire wall and jmmy it in there.,,do this with the tranny out..I think others may have done this after tranny was installed and it multiplies the difficulty..this took literally minutes to do...I'm actually going to take it out again to install the hose from the brake resivior. I could not locate a brake fluid hose over the weekend anywhere..I'm going to try Williams oil filter in Tacoma on monday. The high pressure line has a quick connect line that appears to just snap in, haven't tried it yet.

Installed the donor foot pedals in the 850r..going to do the heater core while i"m in here...its starting to leak a little as evident my carpet is wet.

Posted Image

Here u can see clutch master cylinder removed also steering column is disconnected at floorboard. there is a roller tybe bearing visible.,,,the hook coming throuth the fire wall is where I have hung one side of the steering rack with bunge cord....I secured the steering wheel with a bunge cord also to the shifter knob on the column.

I swapped out the pilot bearing , they are different diameters...it appears the only purpose the pilot bearing on the M56h has is to locate the clutch in a centered position.

Got the manual tranny in last night. Just need to install subframe, shifter assembly and cables. Lastly figure out which wires to connect to get it to start. Hopefully I will be on the road by next weekend.

yeah, I should of done that..i just continued with what I had to give my 2 cents worth and hopefully it will help someone else get the job done easier. I recieved a lot of good info on this forum but I think I defiately found some easier ways to do things just by being patient taking a step back and thinking about it.

Installed shift cables last night and removed auto shifter. I actually laid the stick shift assembly in its place just to see how it's going to look..Man, I feel like I have a different car now. Replaced a leaky oil cooler line and a noisy auxillary belt tensioner too. I figure I might as well do the heater core while I have everything apart here.

Put subframe back on last night by myself, that was fun!! Rear motor mount did not want to align up with crooked hanging engine and tranny. Found crow bar big enough to adjust attitude while trying to start bolt with my electric impact wrench and a wobbly 14mm socket.
