Ha, I have an engine hoist I've only used once to swap a motor in my sisters Cavalier.

Started removing the manual from the donor car last night but I'm unsure how to support the front of the engine..I'm using a typical engine support bar.There is a bracket next to the power steering pump in front. Is that good enough along with using the upper torque mount bracket? What I'm getting at is do I need three points of attachment or will two work fine? if anyone has some pics of how to support the motor during a swap I would appreciate it.

Ha, thanks. I've owned this car since it had 26k on the odometer. It was just time to do this or move on to something else..I feel like I will always keep this 850 though.

Got the M56h out of the donor car today..Now I need to send the flywheel in for resurfacing and remove the pedals, gearshift assy and cables..I've got a new master and slave cylinder and clutch line to install.. Looks like it will be alot easier to install the master cylinder on the 850R with the auto tranny removed.This better be worth it!!

Took the clutch out tonight only to find these damn 12 point bolts..I'm going to get a proper tool tomorrow so I can get this flywheel to Napa's machine shop.Posted Image

Removed cluch pedal assembly today..For anyone doing this just go ahead and undo the steering column joint at the floor by removing the one screw and bolt. Save yourself a headache. Just make sure the steering wheel is kept in one place..

Removing the pedals and throttle cable. For the throttle cable cut away the noise barrier at the firewall where the cable runs through and then you can see the plastic clips that are holding it there. Just pinch the clips in so you can remove the cable. It will come out through the engine compartment side after you release the cable from the gas pedal.

This is where I stopped today. got all the bolts out of the shifter mechanism and one cable unhooked.

You can see the little white plastic fitting that holds the throttle cable to the foot pedal in this pic. I also removed that small black vacuum modulator thats connected to the gas pedal to get the clutch pedal set out. Just removed one tiny torx screw that secures it to the evaporator box and left it secured to the gas pedal.
