My uncles enlistment in an armored unit during Viet Nam, and The movie with Scott, led me to enlist, attend Ft Knox US Army Armor school.

I graduated top of my class of 170, award? George S. Patton Jr. Outstanding Tanker Award. I still have it in my footlocker with my other service memorabilia.

He was a dick, a throwback, and a true warrior. I can think of no better leader of men in this century or the last. He got fucked over by politics and and correctness. If he was given free reign of his battle plan, there never would have been East Germany, all the money spent on the cold war would have been saved, not to mention the lives of good men and women fighting in 3rd world counties loaded with AK47s, T55 tanks and SAM 7 AA missiles.

He was a remarkable member of a remarkable generation. His sense of history and honor is un-matched.

One of my true heroes.

"Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. All men are afraid in battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of manhood."

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

George Washington, remember him, the UN-Obama?

Another hero of that generation. THAT dude had balls. He has some of the best quotes ever. I always wanted to go pub bouncing with Ol' Winny.

"Although personally I am quite content with existing explosives, I feel we must not stand in the path of improvement."

And one of my favs:

"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly. "

What a hoot that guy was. LOL

Battles are won by slaughter and maneuver. The greater the general, the more he contributes in maneuver, the less he demands in slaughter.
