Which leather steering wheel has wood inserts and fits a 96 850? I think the R wheels were suede / 2-tone but not wood right? I whink the s90 had something like this but might be wrong...

All wheels (850, X70, S 90, 960) up to 2000 will fit except s40/s80 i belive. Also all S60 and XC90/70 wheels also fit, but the air bag will not work due to being 2 stage.

so the only option would be a 98? Which 98s had wood inserts?

Although I guess you could use a 98-00 wheel and a 98 airbag and still get it to work...

The problem is with anything 98+ is it is grey and doesnt match the black 850 interior at all. If you have tan interior thats another story

The only steering wheel that really matches the black 850 interior is the 94+ 960/s90 wheel (which is actually the same wheel/airbag combo all European 850s had from the factory), they do have a woodgrain option but they are pretty hard to find, really expensive, and don't match the R wood very well. I would personally just get a good condition, all black one.

Another vote for the black 960/S90 wheel. I got a turbo wheel which was an upgrade over the GLT wheel. Talk to (n)A-GAME if you really want to get a black steering wheel with wood inserts he tends to have quite a few stocked up

power_bottom (I would use your real name since you change your sn so much), what is the improvement from a GLT wheel to a turbo wheel or s90 wheel? is it smaller diameter? better looking/materials?

IIRC, the steering wheels used in the Turbos are leather, while the GLTs aren't.

true about the death part , if you don't wear seat belts. Plus with some of the wheels he mentioned the air bag doesn't work anyway well maybe I am wrong about that. And agree with the Na game comment I hear he has all kinds of good stuff I have bought from him before. He had the part when no body else did..

I just spotted a 960 steering wheel at a junkyard with wood inserts..I'm going to scoop up that bad boy tomorrow..It won't be a perfect match but it will look better than my worn out faded 850r wheel.

My plan is to get the seats reskinned, but nothing from Volvo. Looking at some black leather, with stiching like what's in the 2003 Lotus Esprit
