Nothing I have searched for gave me an answer. Right now you can hear the solenoid move, but it doesn't engage. does the unit have its own oil or is it all linked. Any info would help fantastic

The fluid is shared with the tranny. May be low. Fill up to overflow at the side plug, Type F. Mine is a 77 but I'm sure the tranny is the same.

The fluid is shared with the rest of the transmission. The most common failure would be power to the solenoid or it's ground wire; next would be the o-rings on the two main pistons that operate the clutch. For more on that see: http://www.brickboar...riveRebuild.htm
