Well, my stock wheels were starting to look pretty rough, so I decided I'd refinish and paint them. Unfortunately, with owning a bright red car, my selection of colors is slightly limited. Or so I thought. After some careful research and planning consisting of a 30 second google search and a very quick decision, I came to the conclusion of painting my wheels in a very nice shade of... blue. Yes, blue wheels on a red car.

The color choice for this madness was a Duplicolor 'Ford Medium Metallic Blue' ($5 @ AutoZone). After a nice cleaning and scuffing, I laid the primer and basecoats, and came up with this.

Now, I know it's not your average choice, and that it looks like spiderman's car. But, I plan on making the wheels darker for the final product, which should hopefully look better.

Thoughts/opinions?

I am usually very open minded about these things, but I am going to hold my opinion until they are done.

Ok, I'm starting to get the picture.. hahaha. Now, I pose a question for everyone. If the blue really is that bad, what color do you suggest? I'm looking for something that would be out of the ordinary and unique. Otherwise, I would've done the white/silver/gunmetal/bronze/black that many others have done. I kinda want to stand out in a crowd.

BTW, I'll finish the rest tomorrow if I have time and post up whole car photos.

How many cars do you honestly see in person with bronze wheels? Just because you see these colored wheels on the internet doesn't mean you won''t be ordinary or unique.

You should mod your car so it looks how YOU want it to look...not just do stupid things because people haven't done then before.

FWIW, there are tons of people with blue wheels, so your car is pretty ordinary as far as the internet is concerned.

Neon purple or atomic orange. But if you really want to make them pop then an electric sky blue, lime green or bright white. Baller would be a deep metallic burgundy - almost rust color.

Well, truthfully speaking, THIS would be baller (but who are we kidding, you're not going to spend that kind of money on wheels):

See the thing is, usually these neon/odd colours are done on large wheels that people want to show off. Why would you want to make a set of 16" Perfos stand out?

You do want you want, as it is your car, but reason as to why anthracite and silver on wheels like Perfos is because they look good in those colours.

I like Black for perfos. But, since my T5 is black, the wife vetoed me on black wheels...

On a red car colors like Red, Black, Silver, Bronze/Gold would all be good choices.

But, It's your car. Do what you like and what makes you happy.
