^ it would be interesting to see what you come up with. I try to keep things within the realm of possibility, so they actually get done. :D

A variation on this is what I will be doing in my case:

^I know what you mean , i have so much to do without another task.....so many unfinished jobs...
At least my S70T5 has moved on so i am less tempted to swap the motor/gearbox into the V70T so now i can concentrate on the upgrades to it...
I will however see what they have at the workshop to play with and consult my other man who is an expert tech on Volvo upgrading as well.
Maybe the exterior air temp sensor could be extended to go to the areas , it would be good enough to show what we need , albeit a bit fiddly to move all the time....
Onward and upward.

I still like the idea of vents into the wheel well area , i remember that from racers of old , some ill fated supercars etc....

Already done that a couple of years ago :D - I rewired a info center switch so I can switch between THREE external temp sensors - IC hotside, IC coldside & Ambient (or Airbox)

^ I loves ya work ! I was thinking a long cable so you could put one down at the turbo area . I have never looked but , the plastic wheel tubs could be an easy place to cut some vents , route a flexi tube to the hot area ? There has got to be a good option to cutting that lovely bonnet up.....(hood for you lot...)L.

No real value to reading engine bay temps by the exhaust - we already know it's hot back there, worse if you don't have the heat shields in place. EGT's are more meaningful from that perspective.

I'm definitely installing the Elevate hood vents, after what they cost.

i had the S60R manifold, turbo hot side and downpipe ceramic coated, and that definitely reduced heat in the engine bay....let me dig out the pictures of the hood vents i had planned but scratched....
but since you have the custom headers, i'd suggest ceramic coating as much as you can down there, and going with the inconel heat shielding like charles suggested....

I haven't tuned the car and really run high boost for long periods, so i can't comment on temps (feel) after such conditions....but even with the 19t, and then with the GT35R, the ceramic coating on the manifold, turbo and downpipe made a significant difference.....after tuning, if ever, i may revisit the vent situation....i have side vents, so i was planning on doing something with those to help with brakes and turbo/manifold temps....but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Hussein, i think the first pic is the "finished" product (dated 4/20/07 lol) and the other two being the work in progress because it doesnt have that lip around it. (dated 2/14/07)

Sorry...the pics are not in order...chronologically it goes from bottom to top....the top-most pic is as far as the scoop made it....
we tossed it out and got a new hood, cut it up, made it "flat", and then did side vents....the original design was getting a bit too heavy, and required me to have shocks to aide in opening...it was getting a bit too complicated and unnecessary....

I still want to do some venting in the future, but I'd actually like to see my side vents become functional....not sure if I'll ever get to it...we'll see.

Hussein. Email me sunday. I have a set of hood vents you will be very interested in. They came off a pontiac and they are shaped to compliment the volvo hood nicely. its not the set I previously pictured.
