Hey everyone. I apologize in advance if this topic has been discussed already. I tried searching several different ways and couldn't find a definite answer.

I have a '98 S70 T5 with the SC-900 deck and the dolby surround sound with the center channel. I love the sound system in this car, I think it's perfectly adequate for my needs, but I would like to put in an aftermarket head-unit because I absolutely hate the functionality of the CD changer and it won't play burnt CD's worth a crap.

I need to know if I can use any old radio adapter harness/install kit to make this happen, or if I have to get creative with the install by bypassing the factory amp(s). If I could pull this off without bypassing the amps and retaining the dolby feature, that would be awesome.

Thanks everyone!

Why not just get an Ipod adapter. put all your CD's on a small Ipod or mp3 player one and then you keep the functionality of the dolby.
search Blitzsafe or USA-spec.

An SC-901 may be a little more tolerant of your burned CDs. Mine didn't mind, the few times that it worked before the changer broke outright. :P

I have an iPod adapter plugged into the CD6 port. It works absolutely wonderful.

My SC901 hates burned discs. I went with the Blitzsafe ipod adapter, took no time to install and works beautifully. Now to replace my blown speaker....

The blitzsafe works pretty awesome. You can install it without any additional tools/ soldering either, found a write-up (on ss I think?) on how to do it using the wiring harness that plugs onto the back of the deck, took 10 mins and sounds just as good as the Cd player.
