DEM rebuild as we speak, will have to source out some "dum" for the weekend.

PS - for future reference, do you have a pic that you could share (re-proper removal of the darn connectors). This won't be the first (or last) time that I will have to deal with them.

Those connectors break often, all my rear diffs have had bad connectors to some extent, as long as they click when you connec them you can wrap with tape and use zip ties to hold in place till next repair. ;)

Good news! Xemodex confirmed my suspicion. No communication to or from the DEM. Can't say enough about the service from them (tech help, hand holding, etc).

DEM back from Xemodex (within 1 day). The Xemodex tech mentioned "be careful' with the washer. I was told "it can only really only go on one way", but I am still perplexed. I did read the VADIS instructions regarding the washer "convex side against the temp / pressure sensor." I assume this is when you take the sensor out (something I didn't do).

Anyone want to chime in, which way do I put the washer in prior to the DEM going back on? I will repay in one virtual cold canadian barley beverage!

Argh - DEM all put back together properly, now, a WHOLE bunch of weirdness that wasn't present before. Brake Service required error message, anti-skid service, transmission service, and now shifter red light stays in "P" when put in N, D, etc. Thoughts?

Check the fuse in the rem to see if it was not blown but I'm pretty sure u might need a dem reload but I'm not 100%

Thanks! Fuse checked, still same 2 codes: CEM-E000, TCM E-000, checked connections to DEM unit (seemed snug), did a battery hard reset to break the battery supply (pos and neg together for 1 minute), bu that didn't seem to do anything. CEM E-000 symptoms relate to all the weirdness (no tach, no speedo, jerky tranny, etc). The codes are still there, and won't erase.

I did read that "...the control module (CEM) will remain shut off until the 'power supply is broken (15,30,X). "

Anyone know how to do this, perhaps a last ditch effort before heading to the dealer?

Unless I'm reading your post wrong, I don't think you did a hard reset. A hard reset involves leaving the positive terminal attached to the battery and removing the negative cable and touching it to the positive terminal. Try that, update under the "network" tab and report back with results.

Just re-read you previous posts. I would recommend that you make sure you have a good DEM connection since the connectors were broken upon removal. Specifically, I would secure them by hand, hard reset the car and have someone update the network status while you maintained positive connection at the DEM.

What fault codes were present before you began this adventure?

DEM rebuild seems to be the "root" of all the headaches here. Not sure how to proceed.

Scanned, software modules updated at dealer. Could not clear CEM-E000, TCM E-000 errors and "limp mode."

When DEM unplugged, codes can be cleared (although there was a TCM-1A61), and anti-skid warning (because the DEM is unplugged).

Note - I tried to do the hard reset before all this with the DEM plugged in (according to the instructions here, and via Xemodex, nothing changed). Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Whoa, this sounds like a bad thing made worse. Were you able to get this resolved? Seems like the Xemodex unit might have been problematic??
