GSX-R, that is :) Had some time to spare a few weeks back so me and a few friends rode our rockets down to the drag strip; I bought a Go Pro Hero camera on the way, and suctioned it to the windshield during a late afternoon and early evening blast down the drag strip at Mission Raceway. Got about 6 runs in and recorded 2. I thought it would be interesting to record the facial expressions I made when twisting the throttle of a liter bike all the way down to the stop

Fastest I've ever gone is 10.0x @ 146mph, but that was with the forks strapped down all the way and a 1.6 second 60ft. In the Youtube video the bike's suspension was left in road race/street configuration which forces a much more conservative launch to suppress its wheelie-happy tendency. Bike is a K1 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 with the following mods:

- Full Yoshimura exhaust
- Lowered 2"
- Various carbon fiber parts (mirrors, chain guard, front fender, ankle guards, etc)
- Brock's fork straps (intermittent use)
- Various cosmetic modifications

Weighed in at 425lbs riderless with 10 liters of 94 octane gas in the tank. Always wanted to feel what it was like to pilot a 10-second bike down the drag strip, and I must say... I would definitely recommend it as an addition to everyone's bucket list of must-do things before leaving this Earth. Just make sure not to leave this good Earth attempting it; in fact I also have video footage of my buddy looping his Ninja 650R at the start line due to an over-aggressive launch, and he's been riding 3 years longer than me...

What year was your 750? I love how from 01-02 it takes a trained eye to tell the 600's, 750's and liter Gixxers apart. Knock on wood I don't get to test how good my leathers are though.

There's the forward facing view and also the last drag strip outing for the season. Taken about two weeks ago, my fastest run was 9.96 @ 148mph which was, once again, the result of me strapping the forks down all the way until there was no play left in the suspension. I was promptly told to take an NHRA course and pick up a license, which costs $150--you're not allowed to run under 10's without it...so off came the strap and I went back to more conservative launches.

Believe it or not lowering your bike is the easiest way to counter the bike's tendency to wheelie. At the same time it absolutely ruins the bike's geometry, which affects your ability to carve corners when you're dangerously close to scraping the pegs leaning over.

Wearing leather pants also makes you feel shorter because you can't stretch your legs as much. At 6 feet and wearing leathers with the bike's suspension set to road-racing height, I can JUST put my feet flat on the ground..

That's what I mean by strapping down the forks.
