I saw these small LED bulbs on Ebay and wondered if they will screw up anything
with my S70. They supposedly don't overheat but they may trip a code or something.
Has anyone ever used these on their Volvo?

(194/168 SMD bulbs use high intensity 1W LED)

Unlike the 850 series, the x70 bulb is not aimed directly downward towards the license plate. Instead it is aimed down at a 45 degree angle, supposedly to take advantage of the bulb's filament placement. For a LED Bulb, you'll need a 5 sided one (four sides plus the top) to evenly light the license plate. It also does not trigger the bulb out warning light.

crazykn,
Are you saying that the bulb listed above is not 5 sided? How can you tell? Do you have any suggestion for a place to buy 5 sided bulbs?
I noticed that you have LED side marker lamps on your '98 S70. May I ask where you bought them?

I purchased these bulbs and have not been unhappy. Some where in our fantastic site is a thread about this. Was told these guys would dim with in 6 months of install. However mine are going strong for over a year. I am not unhappy. For 10 bucks + the shipping? Great deal/value.

There are many many types of LED replacement bulbs. Just make sure it is a direct fit for bulb# 194.
I have a 97 855T5 now, have had 6 other Volvos in the past. Sux I aint got um any more!

It should have been in the cosmetic/detailing section. There is also a pin up there of everything LED.

I was using this led bulbs in my house. But i haven't used this in cars or trucks. I heard that 5 sided led bulb is good. Mostly used in cars for more brightness. So you can go for 5 sided led bulb.
