for some reason i have spots for rear door speakers but no rear door speakers. is that normal? i have a base model 98 s70 its got a sc813 head unit no amp under seat or behind the stereo that i could find. so i guess my real question it has anyone else experienced this and if so then is the wiring in place and just no speakers or do they just have the speaker grills on all the s70s regardless of if its a 6 or 8 speaker set up?

You got the BASE model "813" 6 speakers, car is already wired.

Yes, all of the cars will have door panels with speaker grilles back there. My S70 wasn't prewired back there (also had SC-813 base setup with 6 speakers), I think it depends on the car and where it came from. But my car is also one of the most weirdly factory-optioned 70-series I've ever come across in 9 years of ownership so maybe that's not a good measuring point.

Upgrade the speakers you have and throw an amp/dolby center channel setup on there and you won't miss them.

center speaker for a car? that just sounds strange and where in the world would you put a center speaker ? are all the speakers in this thing seriously 8 ohm?

Volvo OEM setup on V70R, C70, and some other 70-series models. Best part is, it's 100% plug and play.

Just go buy a set of these and call it done. You'll need an amp and you should use a good eq, but the sound will pown all!!! Couple them with a good set of mid bass drivers and rear speakers will never be a concern....ever!!!

if you dont mind me asking how was your car weirdly optioned?

Completely base car with leather, base stereo (SC-813) BUT has climate package (sunroof/heated seats/headlight washers) and a manual climate control.

mines got all that i think except the sunroof but that does sound strange kinda glad i dont have a sun roof actually. on my old 740 the sun roof was just a PIA.
