Why no clear over the top ? Would be harder to strip off later if you need to but wold last longer, no ?

Clear might work, but wouldn't it harden the PlastiDip? Krylon Fusion is a one stage paint which includes a gloss / hardener specifically made to bond with Plastic. Now i don't know the chemical properties between the 2 products, but I picked it carefully in case they don't interact well with one another.

I dunno if I'd do the caps black. I find when the center caps are just painted over with no logo or anything, it looks sorta cheap.

Yep, going to add a Silver "R" vinyl over the Ronal logo, with maybe CF or Black centers.

i like those rims, they look really nice. are you sure they're 18's? i only ask cuz there's a set for sale locally and the ad says 16's. either way i think painting them black was a good choice.

I think R38s came in 16, 17 and 18. But they have been discontinued. These are Definitely 18s.

I'm starting to like how they look, even the chrome centercap.

Yep, studless snow tires, and not studable. Although these have the M + S markings on them. Why the question?

Just curious. They looked a little knobby like my Blizzaks and I figured based on where you live and since these are winters, it was probably the case.

Well, I took them off this weekend. Winter actually never came full out, but the wheels did see a lot of salt. They held up pretty good, after going through a supposedly touchless carwash (they had a brush cycle for wheels & tires). A couple places started to peel right at the barrel edge of the machined face where I made the cuts. If I were to be less creative, and to plasti-dip the whole wheel without those cuts, it would have stayed on. Otherwise, I can say I'm pretty happy with the results and it held up for most of the season.
