Hey guys!

I want to upgrade the whole audio system in my 2000 v70. I have seen alot of people doing double din conversions and was wondering if (and how) I can do that. so:

1) Can I do a double din conversion on my car (bc crutchfield says i cant)
2) Can I get 2 different sets of speakers (ie kickers in the front and polk audio in the back) without screwing up the sound.

also i have the basic just cassette version of the Volvo OEM radio in my car (if that makes a difference)

Thanks guys because Im clueless when it come to car audio.

Your best bet would be to source an SC-900 or 901 Head Unit, OEM Amp, OEM Dolby Processor, and Dolby Center Speaker Dash. It's all factory, plug and play, and the sound quality is excellent. I've got a complete setup here I've been trying to sell, if you're interested.

As for aftermarket stuff, you absolutely can do double din. Lots of people on here do.

You can use different companies for speakers but I've found it best to stick with the same brand. It helps eliminate any differences in the sound as different companies use different materials. Example would be JL Audio and Infinity, JL uses silk tweeters giving you a softer high and Infinity uses metal for a brighter one. I'd also stick to the same series of speakers within the company if possible. Sound is entirely subjective so listen to as many different speakers as possible, even better if they're in vehicles. Also do you plan on doing an amp or running it off the radio? Running it off the radio is cheaper but an amp will let the speakers run to their full potential.

Im trying to make this as simple as possible. If I have an amp aren't I going to have to have to run wires everywhere? I was also looking at some component systems and found that you have to mount those damn tweeter and crossovers.

I like the idea of OEM stuff but i want to have ipod integration along with CD and all that jazz.

I have seen people mount this kind of stuff on other forums http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B00385I7TU

But na-game besides the head unit will everything else you said fit? Like the center speaker dash?
I would be interested if the price is right!

Found a link http://www.matthewsv...t=22480&p=95029

How would i be able to do something like that? Custom mounts? 6 pin amp to rca?

The amp is plug and play as well. No wires, it just plugs in to a port at the back of the head unit.

As for Ipod integration if it's very important to you you can source a BlitzSafe Ipod adapter, they run about $75 and use the aux CD changer slot in the back of the OEM head unit.

Sent you a PM. OEM amp will not work with aftermarket HU unless you rewired. It's designed for use with Volvo OEM head units.
