1998 s70 T5

This noise comes and goes, and recently it lasted all the way from work, home, picking wife up, and till about 200yards from my house.

There is no wiggle/wobble in the wheel when jacked up.
and no vibration when accelerating.

thanks.

Sounds like a brake pad that is rubbing on the rotor.

besides the wind noise, I'd attribute this to a slightly warped rotor, and your hearing the pad hit the high spot. I'd doubt that you could see this with the rotor on the car, but if you took it to be resurfaced, I'm betting it would show up.

Awesome.

I should also note the following.

Tires are new.
(noise was there before I got new tires) (thought it was old tires... :( )
and brake dust shield has been removed lol.

went over to parents house and took mom up to the store, She REALLY doesnt like going over 80 lol.
it didnt do it the whole 5 miles :(

half way home it started.

soooo rsterns, perhaps it is only when the rotors heat up enough to cause this? aka after some hard breaking?

I placed an order for new rotors and pads. so yeah. but I wont have them for probably a week at the earliest.

It could be a combination of the rotors being slightly warped, in conjunction with possible pad misalignment. Once you get in there it will be interesting to note any angularity to the pad ware. Your in Florida, and I don't know the history or mileage on your car, but make sure that the guide pins are properly lubricated, and replace anything that has corroded. IMHO with single piston calipers, it's very important to make sure that things like pad alignment pins, don't restrict proper pad movement within the caliper. Also, if there is any specific bedding procedures provided with the pads, follow them.

Sounds like the wear indicators on the pads? Are they worn down?

nah plenty of pad left, probably close to an inch.

Kurt mentioned the pins so I will be checking those too and lubricating them.

Any recommendations on what to use?

It actually went away >.< but came back last night on the way home...
So I posted back up. So it pretty much stopped for a good 2 months almost.

Sprayed the caliper with wd40 before we set back out and was a bit surprised that I had no more noise till almost home from parents house.
I am sure that is stupid to do but I wanted to try it.

I posted what I was hearing last night on MVS but ill link this to their.
Will be buying rotors calipers and pads even though the pads are newish. <_<

I just havent had any time to really work on the car unless it effected it being able to drive.
Next weekend should be a good weekend to work on stuff.

Im sure there is some, but since it gets driven everyday its not on the contact areas.
Picking up some rotors and pads from parents for Christmas. so ill know more first of the year.

Also noise has died down / gone away again so idk.

Could be a caliper in need of a rebuild, not fully frozen, but doesn't suck back all the way leaving the pad loosely contacting the rotor face. When you replace the pads and rotors and have to push the caliper pistons back see if one is harder to push back than the others.
