Hey everybody,

I'm new to the forums but I've been scouring the topics and can't really find the info I'm looking for. Naturally, the info is probably right in front of me, but I haven't found it and now I'm turning to the great pool of knowledge that is Volvospeed. I'd really appreciate some help with my questions, but first the background. I have a 1997 Volvo 850 Glt that is practically flawless; I love the car, I will never get rid of it. I am in the process of installing some little things here and there, but I have some questions about the instrument cluster and the trip computer.

I used to have a 94 850 Turbo and that baby was equipped with the trip computer; my 97 does not have this and I dearly miss it. I want to install the trip computer in my 97 and, from what I gather, it can be done if I purchase an instrument cluster out of an 850 that has an activated data center/info screen/trip computer and install it and the info switch/button in my car. Is it that simple? Will I still need the dealer to activate it if I'm it worked in a previous vehicle?

While I'm at it, if I get an instrument cluster out of a Turbo car, is there a way to hook up the boost gauge in my Glt? My thinking is that they both have turbos so it seems possible, but the Turbo may have a sensor or wiring that the Glt does not have for the boost gauge.

You don't need to get anything activated. You just need the trip computer display, switch, and wire that goes to the switch. Take out your current gauge cluster, remove the connector going to the clock, remove the screws, pull out the clock, replace with your trip computer display, screw it in, plug in the connector, run the switch to the dash. Done.
