are you guys not into bigger after market rims? i see various threads about new rims but it's always another factory model. that's cool sometimes but it aint original when everyone does it!

i'm thinkin 20's in black/charcoal/etc. they'd look real good with the black trim and the angel eye headlights i have on my yellow t-5.

Eh i personally wouldn't go that big. Especially with a yellow. Id keep that with oem wheels just because of the fact its a t5r. But its your car, do what you think looks best.

Why stop at 20, you should totally get 24"
Angel eyes are a nice touch too.

Have you considered spinners ?

I love big rims and guys like mattphi on the board are also into rims. I've had 20" rims on my C70, which is the same chassis as your 850. As long as you stick with 225/30/20 and know how to drive, 20s will be fine on your car. You may need to roll fenders to clear the rear rims and tires especially. If you have specific questions about rim size or rim width or rim offset, please let me know. I'm happy to help and consider myself a rim and fitment expert.

how is it butchering? maybe kitting the car could fall into that category but in that regard i'm just adding a CF lip and a wing if i can find one.

i figure 20's could fit pretty well in those huge wheel wells. i can get pegs in 19" so why not another inch larger? i understand it's my car and i can do whatever i want but it's nice having a few other people thinking alike. not getting the same rims mind you, but not just keeping the car stock.

i was trying to go the same route as the VW guys and find some sweet bentley/lamborghini rims but they're all in 5x120 :(

Tsk, tsk

I think my 20s on a yellow would look hot:

Imagine the car nice and low and the wheels a little darker. Money.

Edit: Bentley is 5x112 and you can get them redrilled (www.motorsport-tech.com or www.inlandwheel.com). Porsche wheels are easy to adapt and have high offsets, too. Last thing, you may get a more understanding audience on a VW site versus here. VS worships the trackability of these purpose-built race cars.

Please post some pics of the wheels you are considering.

Hopefully the roads are pretty much perfect where you live. The profile tire you'll need wouldn't work for me in NY - I'd be buying new wheels every month.

Im sorry, dont mean to be a douche, but 20s look a little bit extreme, and your ride quality is gonna go to stuff

IMO 20's arent too big they wouldnt look good. i've used a few wheel generators and a 35/40 series tire would make 'em big enough they wouldnt be ruined by a shitty road. i tend to be a good driver, going around holes and such in the road. i dont have to be some place that bad i cant go a lil slower. i dont have a particular wheel in mind. i'm just trying to find 'em in the right bolt pattern. my last car was a 5x114.3 and i had TONS of options and now i dont have as many...

honestly i figured it was a bunch of old guys that owned these cars and didnt want to change anything cuz they were scared. i understand wanting to keep the car track ready but not all of us own a race car.

With 20s you will need 30 series and specifically 225/30/20. You won't get 235/30/20 to work in front and I'm talking from experience pulling the crap out of 850 fenders. Even the 225s will shred though your fender liners in slow speed turning. I am an old guy (36) as you speculated, but I've had my share of 20" wheel experience. Now I'm doing 18s and 17s with air ride to get extremely low, as most old people tend to want.

You're thinking of Swedespeed, They also list radios/head-units in their sig's.

Haven't seen many 20 inch + wheels on a 850 (that aren't chrome), I'd say do it, as Jeremy said though your gonna have to look for other than 5x108 for good looking wheels in that size

They (VS) wax their cars? I thought the lastest craze was to wrap them in viynl so the paint is flat. At least thats what won the IPD show.

There's a reason why popcorn will be enjoyed with this thread. Those who swap out non-oem wheels that actually push the limits are in the very small majority here. Personally I'm looking for a nice set of Jag wheels, maybe some mercedes for the coupe.

X70 cars are much easier to put on big wheels on than 850's IMO. From a tasteful standpoint of course

i gotta put something in my sig!! all i have is my lights and my cd player, which seems to be more than what most people have.

if i could find an air ride kit i'd keep my titans and just rock that instead. i'm not one to piece something together if there's a full kit made up.

i sense a lil hostility... have i offended you? i dont really post on here cuz most of the new threads i see are about maintenance and my car is running awesome. i can see you being threatened cuz i'm bringing new ideas to the table. changing stuff seems to be against the rules in the volvo family. i like what i have but i have to make the car my own, ya know?

i've never been one to follow trends. i'm not gonna put pegs or vectors on my car cuz everyone else does it. i want y'all to see my car and be like, yup i know who that car belongs to. i've never done anything tacky on any car i've owned so y'all dont have to worry about that.

Give it a rest...seriously, he wants to do something different why not wait to see it first. Jeremy and Matt and a few others have shown it can be done properly. Sounds like the OP is moving in that same direction.

If you want bags then talk to Mattphi or exexpat (both have commented in this thread). They'll get you there or at least tell you anything there is that can be known about Volvos on air.
