found an old thread from 2008 about these:

http://www.ebay.com/...=item256846e452

http://www.ebay.com/...=item35b5ceddae

one of those. there was no conclusion or answer as to if someone had received a set of them, if they were legit, pics and whatnot. If there was another thread I would appreciate a link. Thanks.

I looked through 4 pages of seller feedback and there was one Volvo set ordered. Buyer gave an A+

Just my research of all 30 seconds. If there is definitive proof that these things are legit I would be interested.

There are cheaper ones on the German ebay site. I was always interested in checking a set out. Not going to loose much money if they are no good at all.

http://uk-mkivs.net/...s/t/256480.aspx

this doesn't look like too bad of a deal, when i can scrounge some dough, i may snag a set. figured i'd post the link for any others that were interested. comes out to about 480 plus whatever shipping is. i don't speak german so...haha

I googled some German websites back then and only found info on other cars using these. Some said they were good some said they weren't. One thing was fairly consistent, they tend to freeze up (spin down rings), but honestly I've seen that on KWs as well. Some WD40 once a month will prob take care of that.

It is the usual adage, you get what you pay for. If all you are interested in is slamming the car, then those are probably fine.

Ride quality is subjective. The older you get, the more important it becomes because you are less willing to be bounced around on really stiff springs. If the roads in your area are good, it isn't as much of an issue.

beiber, i am thinking the same, but either way you should do a write up and take some pics! I was also thinking about a way to treat or coat them to prevent rust. they seem to be pretty rust-prone...does that seem outlandish?

So from what you guys are telling me, these are more for low than performance? Are they better than the D2s as far as build quality is concerned?

They're even less than D2, so I really wouldn't be expecting more.

Agreed, D2 seems to be better build quality for sure.

Same with the AWD... if you don't actually own one, or never have, or plan to do so, then shut your pie hole.

If someone were to figure out how to order these I would be down to be the first to try it. When I tried buying them on the german ebay site it said they wouldn't ship to the us.

With pre payment I can probably get a set within the next month if someone is interrested. Me or my stepdad will be going traveling to Germany.
