I purchased a PIAA sports horn kit a few years ago and finally am getting around to hooking them up.
On my '98 S70 when you open the hood, there are two stock horns with one factory plug going into each.

In the installation booklet that came with the PIAA horns, it says to "Cut off the factory plugs and crimp on an insulated
1/4" female blade connector to each factory positive (+) wire. I really don't like cutting factory harnesses of any kind so
my question, is there any way I can avoid doing this? The plug on the O.E. horns is pretty big.

The PIAA horns have two male terminals coming out of them, one for positive and one for ground.
PIAA included two ground wires in the kit with a female blade on one end and a lug for a grounding screw on the other.

P.S. I can barely see whjat I am doing with that big black plastic cowling in the area. Not sure if it is worth trying to remove that for clearance.

If you're not willing to cut the factory plugs off, I don't know if there's any way for us to help you.

Buy new horns from Volvo?

your only solution would be finding a plug that the OEM plug fits onto and using the wires off of that to go to the PIAA ones.

Can I assume correctly that the OEM plug has both positive & negative wires in the bundle?

1 wire is hot the other is the return. The horns don't reach ground till the horn switch is depressed.
I forget which one is which. I had to tap into one for powering my air horn solenoid.

im guessing you can have negative grounded from horn... then touch each lead from factory harness (with positive from new horn) and when the horn goes off then thats the positive but then your negative has to go back into harness. you cant ground everything...

You could just tap splice off the harness and put your blade connectors onto the splice.

If I am reading your question correctly, what I would do is go to a junkyard and cut off the wires you need with the connector.
This way your horns will be plug and play, and you can then swap factory horns back in whenever you need to.

That's why he mentioned the ones you need. Meaning the ends of the stock horns.
