My heater core took a dump and of course got coolant leaked all into the driver's side area so the carpet got soaked, still is soaked, I took my we dry vac to it and got a lot of it but its still soaked. I have a carpet cleaner but the attachment for it is broken, so unless I pull my interior I am up to other suggestions?

oh heh it wasn't that bad :) then again I stopped right away and put my shirt around where it was leaking and pushed it home (was literally 400' away from my house) and then put lots and lots of towels in that area

i left for the weekend and came back. my friends got in the back seat and we heard this plopping sound. it was my drainage plugs or whatever thats under the hood cowl thing. id recommend cheking them for anyone to make sure its not plugged. mine was plugged and water ran into the vent intake and flooded my entire interior

I guess its a good thing we cleaned the crap out of that :D we ran pipe cleaners down the drain pipes and just vacuumed up the debris on the bottom

I know it sounds weird, but you can poor a bag of dried rice on the carpet for awhile, it'll suck up any water that's hanging out. Then you can scoop it or vacuum it out.

Take your car to one of those 25 cent, (now 2 dollars or more) wash it yourself carwash and use the vacumn there. They are usually a lot stronger than a home shop vac. My 97 Camaro has T=tops and when it rains really hard my back seat floors get a small puddle there. I go and use the car wash vac and can get up almost all the water. Just go back and forth slowly. After that spray it real good with Fabreeze for a few days and you should be good to go..........................TIM

If you can deal with not having carpet for a few days. Pull it out, clean/wash it and then let it dry outside of the car.

I'd like to not pull it, and if I did pull it I'd just use my carpet cleaner on it since that pretty much cleans everything its just the stupid attachment broke

if the above doesn't work I'll do this, did this for an ipod touch that got wet and it did the trick

This is the only true way to do it, and it's something that me and others have done:

* Remove driver's seat (or all the seats + center console, if your carpet is one piece).
* Remove the carpet. It comes out without much hassle, just need to remove/unclip the appropriate trim panels.
* Wash it out to get the most of the coolant off.
* Take the carpet to a laundromat and use one of their big ass washers. Put an appropriate amount of detergent and put it in the for longest cycle. Make sure spin dry is on.
* Let air dry overnight. I propped my carpets up to make sure they maintained their shape.
* Remove the affected foam by cutting it out from the rest of the foam. It is difficult to remove it without cutting it out.
* Launder the foam or rinse it out by hand. Let air dry overnight. Heatgun may help, too.
* Remove the mass loaded vinyl that is on the floor and clean that with Lysol and towels.
* Dry the floor pan of the car entirely.
* Use some Lysol or alcohol to clean it.
* Let it sit overnight just so that everything evaporates.
* When reassembling, you reattach the cut foam with krazy glue. No joke. Put the foam back into place, and run krazy glue between the seam, it will instantly bond the foam and not come apart.

I am going to do this come spring time... My interior is dry but still has that funk about it so once it warms up a bit, I am going to pull everything out and do what Serge says... It seems like the best option to get the funk out...

At least its coolant and not water. Water rots everything and will leave a nice "funguy" smell if not cleaned throughly.
