Came out to my car this morning to discover this lovely dent. Do you think it'll pop out easily if I take the fender off and push from behind? I figure if it comes out ugly, I can just get an undented black fender out of the junkyard.

That sucks man. People are such fucking assholes. I doubt you'll be able to pop it out and have it look like it did before. I think you can make it look passable though in the mean time. The hardest part is going to be the dent at the top of the fender (above that line). I'll keep my eyes open for a fender at the JY.

I was thinking I'll take it off, make a jig out of wood to support it and bring it down to my school's machine shop and try to press it out gently.

I'm thinking it was either a foot or there was a drunken fight near my car and someone put their shoulder into it really hard. There's not even a scratch in the clear coat or any paint residue, so it wasn't another car or anything hard. There's no blood about so it wasn't someone's forehead or knuckles. Which makes me think foot or shoulder.

i'd try to take it off first, like you said, and then lay it on something and try using my foot and press the thing back out.

i like the idea of using a press but i dunno if you'd need to use that much pressure. junkyards are a great place to buy parts. no point in getting it new.

PDR would probably be able to get that out. Call up a few local places and see if they can do it. The crease line makes it difficult to restore with PDR, but it might be possible.

The cheapest option is to get another black fender from the yards, should cost you no more than $40.

That one little crease on the top will be hard to fix. The rest should pop out OK. I bet the paint will crack when popped out though.

Sigh. Easy fix, but its gonna require you to respray the panel. So factor that in, and a new junkyard panel may be cheaper.

Yea, I was going to give it my best shot, then go get a junkyard panel. I'm surprised the paint didn't crack in the first place and I would like to avoid trying to do a professional looking paint job myself.

Is it allowable to drive the car with a fender missing? If I take it off to try to work it out I don't want to have to put it back on to drive to a junkyard to get a new one then have to swap it out again.

you aren't just going to pop that out. The dent is sharp and in the middle of 2 stamped crease lines in the fender 1 being the top 90 degree of the fender. Like Che said, its possible but not with out paint and body work..

Why is dent removal so hated?

I've got no problem popping mine out.

Do you want me to pop yours out?

My old lady is willing to pop mine out for me.

Viagra helped me pop mine out.

It's fine if you want to pop it out, but don't post pics.

There is nothing wrong with dent removal. Did you call a PDR place?
