So yeah I like my wheels more when they are dirty then I do when they are clean...
so the thought of painting them gunmetal has come across many many times.

Look at it this way. If you like the way they look when they're dirty just leave em dirty. This way you never have to clean your wheels.
And if for some reason you want them brighter go ahead and clean them.
