I've got 84k on the odometer, change oil every 5k with Mobil 1. With 4k on this oil change the oil is dark brown.
I'm assuming this is the result of carbon build up
Is Seafoam the fix ?
Thanks

dirty oil does not necessarily mean bad oil. particles can be suspended in the oil, making it look dirty, but it can still retain it's lubricating qualities.
look it up in google and on "bob the oil guy".

5K is nothing for Mobil 1. A lot of people do 10K with very little wear. As stated above, "dark" oil does not mean bad oil. It's about time to stop judging oil based on its color.

What color was the oil when you put it in? Do you know? How does your cam look when you look into the oil filler cap?
If the color bothered me, I would do an oil change - I would check the color of each quart that I put in - then check again each 1000 miles after the change.
Both our 850s - a NA and a Turbo - do not show much discoloration between oil changes. The turbo is a bit darker.
Some oils are quite dark - Amilie I think is a good example.
Sea Foam may clean things up, but if this is a rapid onset of a problem I doubt if it will address the issue.
