when painting 607 yellow on any part, is it better to use a light or dark primer? i've heard that a dark color underneath a light color can affect how it looks.
since someone will ask, it's only headlight molding. to me it doesn't HAVE to be perfect, just good enough.

You answered your own question. Light base primer for light color paints.

More important that you get a primer that is compatible with whatever material and paint system you are using than what color it is.
