After 6 years of lusting after this car, i finally own it.
My beloved 244 run a bearing and while waiting for the car to be fixed , i bought a 1997 Mazda Capella Estate, which blessed me with three months of automatic agony. I found this car for sale again and this time i could afford it (just don't ask how much). Did i mention it is a factory manual gearboxed car? This is the only manual R or T5-R car i myself have ever seen for sale in the last 6 years in NZ.

Couldn't be more perfect - it's a manual R wagon, and has charcoal/black interior!

I'm pretty shure my Dad looked at this car years ago did it come from welly ?? He oviously didn't buy it (It broke down on test drive)We didn't really know what it was at the time
but he now wishes he had brought it.We (family)now have 2x 850r sedans 2x 850r wagons 1xt5 wagon with r suspension and t5r wheels 1x t5 and a glt also the 142s

Thats hard case, yep it is the Welly car, seems to run fine other than needing a pair of front tyres and probably the rear crank seal.
Infact this is my first front wheel drive volvo, ive got a 82 244gle and had a 760 turbo. But always wanted this R cause its the only one ive ever seen on trademe and such thats not an auto. The guy i bought it off got it from Wellington and he's got a red 850r saloon himself.
Should round up all the Volvos in the north island and have a meet in Taupo i reckon.

yep sounds good for a meet sometime. you should try your R with a ARD tune makes the standard R's feel lame!!

Sweet looking car mate, recognise the pic location also, just down the road from me in Glenfield.
Seriously jealous of the manual tranny. I just wanted an R and and got the red wagon that was being sold in Hamilton about 8 month ago.
Love it to bits apart from the recent fuel pump failure, The guy I bought mine off has a yellow T5R saloon, and is always talking about a get together a meet would be a great photo oppertunity

This a awsome car i nearly bought it and it went a bit sad on the test drive,it was only the distributor cap and rotor a common problem ....and i ended up fixing it, as i have serviced this car in the past, the owner you bout it from was a volvo fan too.But at the time my funds were not ready at the time.........This is a realy cool car and im lead to believe the only 850 r manual in the nz....Enjoy........

What suspension is it sat on at the moment it seems a little high for R suspension?
