Hey all, thanks for looking. this is my college project. pretty shabby.

This project started out because I was looking for a fun car to fix and drive cross country to Yosemite.
Some good friends of ours had this beat old 850 with a M56 and they were selling it for $400 because their daughter scraped paint off the car with a metal scraper after an ice storm.

Anyway, got the car about 3 years ago in the summer. here she is. Mortimer. 210,000 when i bought it and it had been sitting for 3 months.

painted the grill because it was shabby. but so was the whole car. I'll keep it that way.

Did a lot of exchanging parts using my 1995 855 with a M56 as a donor car.

it was pretty before my brother killed the 3rd gear syncro.



Anyway, started by doing an overhaul of the car. here was the list:

Front right trans-axle was "not so hot"
Steering Knuckle was rusttttttyyyyy.
Rotors and Pads all around, the calipers were in amazingly good condish.
Shocks/Struts ALL shot and rusted out completely. the car bounced like crrrrazy on the way home, but ran... gotta love Volvo.
Alternator, Starter, Radiator all shot or making suspicious noises
Timing Belt/pump job
Serp Belt
Right Rear Bushing (That sucks, Dont REPLACE THIS)


Also, the interior was completely wrecked. so that all got switched with the donor car, which had the same color interior. i dont have any pics of most of the interior swap, but whatevs.

one weekend i ripped apart the whole front end of both 850s

swapped the intercooler and piping, starter, alternator, headlights upgraded to the '95 dual bulb.

exhaust broke, right behind the cat. we used wire from a fence and some beer cans on the side of the road.

Got some time to play on VS some more lately.

uploaded pics of new rotors and the bilsteins and IPD springs.
I've figured also after having the stiffer suspension that many suspension things need replacing shortly after so i started doing endlinks and whatnot.

then my right rear bushing went knock knock knock knock. for a few months. i didnt want to risk it, having seen the pics of how one guy on another forum took out the bushing and housing. i didnt want to blow up the gas tank... so $300 worth of labor later... (Crap, 3/4 the value of the car.) new Right Rear bushing.

How did you get the dual bulb headlights to fit?

Took off the whole headlight set up from my 95 donor including the wiring harness, cleaned it up by wrapping the headlight wiper wiring up. i was replacing the radiator so the whole front end came off for convenience. i hear you can also change to 94+ with minimal difficulty using your current wiring harness.

Some amber turn signals from FCP. had to lengthen the wire... huh... whatever. they look good to me.

behind is the R. sadly the roof was damaged in a snow storm... poking tree. look in the 'for sale' for 98R in NH.

DId the headlight wiper trim just swap right over? That was the only thing I was worried about cause I think the fenders are a little different between 93-94 and the newer years.

ya 94 headlight trim fits in just fine with older fenders.
