Hi guys, what would cause a stock headunit to skip cds? The headunit in my 96 855R skips almost every CD it tries to play, and it's worse on higher tracks. It will skip even with a brand new cd, and when sitting still. The weirdest thing is it seems to be better with older cds, especially ones that are burned.

Any ideas? I'm assuming the eye is scratched up, but I have no idea how to clean it.

I bought a Lens Cleaner from Best Buy for about $10.00, it has a disk with little brushes on the underside and some lens cleaning solution. Made a big difference with my head unit after I used. It. It works with all disk playing devices so you can clean DVD players, gaming system, and so on...hope this helps.
