I've recently brought back to life a 2001 XC70 that has been sitting in someone's garden for about 6 months.
It's all up and running and on the road as of today, but I'm completely unfamiliar with P2 cars so need some advice.
I've noticed that sometimes the radio/cd head unit doesn't illuminate and at the same time the controls on the steering wheel don't work. The radio will work ok like this, just no lights or wheel controls.
It seems to just start working ok again at random.
I have had to replace the battery as the old one was goosed, but I'm not sure if this could be related.
I don't have access to DICE, so I don't know if that would hold any answers.
Any ideas?
Thanks

most likely your going to need a need a new 603..i had one in a 04 that was doing the exact thing she didnt notice the lights not working but came in bc the steering controls didnt work..when i pulled car into shop i noticed the back light was also out..
one thing to also check is that software has been loaded into it..if someone replaced it and didnt download software it will cause same issue..there was a tech journal about it couple months back

Thanks for your reply.
It's been behaving not too badly the last couple of days, but the issue is still there.
I'm expecting delivery of a dice unit soon so maybe that will confirm what the issue is.
Is there a 'how to' on removing these head units somewhere?

You need to remove cover over shifter..which you just pry up. The. There are two screws at the bottom of the ccm. Remove those and pull it out
