Definitely try to scout out a Dolby dash pad, "Tom." on SwedeSpeed is selling a Charcoal and Tan one in the FWD classifieds.

After comparing the structure of the two dash pads (I sourced a dash with center hole from Erie Vovo) there's no way you could do this properly without compromising both the integrity of the dash and the cosmetic result. Jim is spot on here.
