Is there any kind of grounds wires coming off an antenna on an 850 wagon? Or is it just straight to radio from antenna? Will amp wires interfer with antenna cable?

I try to catch a program on the way to and from work and in certain areas it goes all static and it sucks. Our 1998 v70 sounds perfect in both areas that the 850 goes out. So i got a booster for the antenna, sort of helped but it still gets static.

I want to check if im missing someing i can do before i go for the whip antenna :)

I know the s70 and 850 radios are different. Maybe the s70 one is just more advanced. Has this always happened? Or did it just start recently?

My girlfriend's 850 wagon also has some dead spots in the radio driving around campus. I do not experience them in my 850 sedan.

See if the problem follows the radio or the car.
Both of those radios should work in either car.
Be sure you have the codes handy for each
of them and swap'em for a few days.

Great idea,I was able to further investigate the antenna and everything seems in order. Still have to go through the wireing diagrams. But i will defiently switch the radios for a bit, smart idea B)

The car's long single antenna works better than the wagon in glass antennas

This is correct I have 3 850's 2 sedans and a wagon and both the sedans get much better radio signal than my wagon. and it don't matter what radio is in them. I've been thinking of adding some kind of antenna booster as I don't want to add anything to the outside, but have had no luck.

Im giving it one more try. Im going to install an antenna like the 2000 jetta wagons. Hopefully this will solve the problem :)

Is there any pictures around with an aftermarket antenna on a wagon?

What amp? Oem audio amp?
Which radios are you dealing with ?
You only mentioned an sc-816.
Model numbers would help.
