I 've had some trouble finding info about BOVs on our cars.

I found this thread really informative http://volvospeed.co...-valve-threads/

But there are some questions i haven't been able to find answers to. First of all i'd like to state I'm mainly after getting some popping/flames between shifts. I just think thats really cool, especially on a volvo. I don't want it to be abnoxious or ricey, just an every now and then thing when i'm driving H.A.M.I heard that this popping is easily achieved with catless exhaust and a BOV.

A while back I recorded a friend doing a high speed fly by in his S70 and was actually able to catch what looks like a flame between shifts. (Only mods he has is IPD exhaust). I on the other hand have OBX exhaust, which is catless compared to IPD. That being said i feel like i'd be able to achieve this pretty easily and soon.
Video of my friends car.

So back to the questions. Through my research i've heard things like a BOV is bad for the engine and/or turbo? Is that true? Isn't there an issue with the computer not understanding where the extra air is being vented to? I see that BOVs are actually pretty cheap and all i'd need is to block the CBV so i feel tempted to at least try it out..

OR. Couldn't i just get bigger injectors that'll make me run richer and induce this popping? Itd be easier and actually add a little performance so i'm leaning towards this option.

Simply running larger injectors on your stock car won't make you any faster.

Wow thanks for the neg whoever that was..I didn't mean to offend anyone jeeeeeeeeeeeeezz  . I don't see the issue here, I guess I should've made it a little more clear that i am NOT going to use a "flame thrower kti". I'm planning on getting a tune eventually so i figured getting bigger injectors would get two birds stoned at once and give me the richness i want for poppy exhaust, and help with power (a little ) after the tune.

I'm not talking about a 2 foot flame thrower spitting out the exhaust. Just a little blip every now and then you know? Does anyone understand what i'm going after? Like i've seen subbies that do this. (). How is that not cool especially since its not a gay flame thrower kit? I guess all i can conclude is that the popping i'm going after comes naturally with big catless exhaust and maybe a tune. But at this point i give up and i'm moving on.

My pops and shoots flames like that first video every so often. especially when the car is still cold, it will always do it when she is cold. I run an OBX and SSQV. It dosent happen all the time, only randomly. Like the other night i got a good 1 foot flame and a really loud pop.

In all reality your not gonna get this all the time like that video with the subie, so dont get your hopes up kid. But hey its your car, do as you please with it. All the power too ya

Bigger injectors in this case still won't make you any faster with your stock turbo. The whole point of getting a tune is so you don't run too rich or too lean....

Ok good to know. I'm still sort of new to turbo cars and all that.

Buy the BOV and when it runs rich you may get the "aftfire" your looking for, if you cause it to run rich by switching injectors your gas milage, performance and drivability could suffer. Bigger injectors mean more fuel without more air, in turn the engine does not have enough oxygen to burn off all the fuel and some enters your exhaust, once in the exausht it has the air required to ignite and causes a flame.

so install the bov, you already are cat less so on some shifts you will probably see flames when the engine runs rich after venting air already measured by the MAF to atmosphere.

And tell your honda and nissan buddies bigger injectors =/= power.

If you don't believe me i will sell you a sweet tune for 70 bucks that just must be installed between the MAF and ecu (read gforce chip lols)that will dump all the fuel you could need into your engine and give you cool flames haha

Or you could just take a different rout. I run a electronic dump valve after my Downpipe and that dumps flames all day with it open......
